They can add the touch life in a room full of furniture. The natural hues of green can be the perfect splash colour that a room needed. Let’s look at some large plants we can use to spruce up our living rooms!

1. Bird of paradise:

This plant has long banana-like leaves that stay upright. It has a beautiful cool green shade and can bloom in the summers. The flowers are a beautiful shade of orange and blue, but the sheer size of the leaves and the tall height of the plant makes it perfect for a living room. It can create a tropical feel with a softness due to the natural curve of the leaves. You can keep it next to a large window in a corner and draw the eye to an otherwise dull and empty area of the living room. Taking care of these plants is also very easy. You have to wait for the soil to get fairly dry before watering thoroughly and place in a bright spot of the living room. It can do very well under direct sunlight!

As per your décor needs, you can shape this plant to be in a bush form or tree form. Notching the top of the tree after it reaches the desired height, can promote side growth which will make it bushier.

The leaves grow in a very symmetrical pattern which makes it look very good in minimalist homes. This plant is going to take up a lot of space but it so worth it. The leaves grow to be very large with curvy fenestrations in them, which looks like someone artistically made these cuts. As the plant matures, the leaves will get more and more fenestrations and deep dark colour. It grows not only tall but also wide so a place with some room to grow in necessary. The plant has such beautiful and unique leaves that it can be the focal point of the entire room. Here are a few tips to keep these plants happy and healthy:

1. Keep them clean by gently wiping them regularly with a soft cloth.

2. After watering these plants, you want to let the water stay in the saucer for at least 15,20 mins so that it can soak up what it needs, especially the ones are rootbound.

3. After the soaking, the extra water has to be drained out no matter what.

4. You can keep these on a stand with wheels so you can move them if necessary, without breaking your back!

5. Don’t be scared of them just because they’re large, have faith in your instincts and just go for it!

Until next time,

Have a lovely day and Happy Planting!!
